ChargePoint and Eaton Unveil Ultrafast, V2X-Enabled EV Charging Solution
ChargePoint and Eaton have unveiled the ChargePoint Express Grid, a cutting-edge ultrafast electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure designed to meet the growing demands of both passenger and heavy-duty EVs. This innovative solution integrates ChargePoint's Express Dc Fast Chargers with Eaton's comprehensive power management systems, delivering a scalable and efficient charging experience.
Key Features of ChargePoint Express Grid:
1. High Power Output: The system provides up to 600 kW of power for passenger EVs and can scale to deliver megawatt-level charging for heavy-duty commercial applications, such as trucks and buses.
2. Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) Capabilities: Leveraging Eaton's "Everything as a Grid" approach, the Express Grid enables seamless integration with onsite renewable energy sources, energy storage systems, and vehicle batteries. This synchronization allows for optimized energy flow, reducing fueling costs and enhancing grid stability.
3. Modular and Compact Design: The architecture is designed to be 30% more cost-effective and 30% more compact than traditional solutions. Its modular power blocks can support multiple EVs simultaneously, with configurations capable of delivering up to 1.8 MW by aggregating three blocks.
4. Simplified Deployment: Eaton offers custom-engineered configurations with site-ready power infrastructure, including optional skid-mounted solutions. These features expedite installation, reduce equipment requirements, and simplify connections to the grid and distributed energy resources.
5. Future-Ready Technology: Eaton plans to commercialize solid-state transformer technology in the coming year through its acquisition of Resilient Power Systems Inc., further advancing DC applications in the EV market and beyond.
Deployment Timeline:
The ChargePoint Express Grid is set to debut at the RE+ trade show in Las Vegas. Select customers in North America and Europe can place orders now, with deliveries beginning in the second half of 2026.
This collaboration between ChargePoint and Eaton represents a significant step forward in EV charging infrastructure, offering a scalable, efficient, and future-ready solution to meet the evolving needs of the electric vehicle market.
